Those Under 25 Can Find Cheap Car Insurance

It's really not a secret in the UK that if you are 25 years old or under and are looking for car insurance you're going to pay a hefty price. For young people, this is very unfair, as there is nothing anyone can do about the fact that they are under 25.

Things are bad for young people in the car insurance market, from a price perspective, because of the general record of under 25's on the road. Unfortunately, young people are more prone to be caught drink driving, driving recklessly, and are usually involved in road accidents – especially accidents on the motorways.

Finding cheap car insurance is therefore quite a tall order in the UK, and it seems as if it may be a hopeless case. For many, the easiest answer is not to even bother getting insurance, but this is illegal. If the police catch you driving without insurance there is an expensive fine and the possibility that your car may be impounded or even destroyed (in some cases, this can happen).

Is it fair to tell young people that they must pay insurance but then ask them to pay so much for it? Well, it may be unfair, but the fact is that young people are not the world's safest drivers. And each time a person drives without insurance and is involved in an accident, they cost the country and the insurance companies, and so the prices are hiked up again.

That's the bad news. The good news is that you CAN find cheap car insurance for young people, and you can even drive the prices down on any insurance quote you get, by using a few tricks of the trade.

Firstly, while you can't do anything about your age, you can do something about your driving skill. Many insurance companies offer incentives and no-claims bonuses for good driving. You can increase your odds of a decent insurance premium by going to an advanced driving course, like the Pass Plus driving course, which can drop your premiums from 12 to 35 percent. Plus it will give you confidence on the road.

Then you can take advantage of your new found driving skills and look out for insurance companies that offer early no-claims bonuses. As incentives to young people to drive better, many insurance companies offer them their no-claims bonus nine months to a year after signing on with the insurance company. This means that you can get a substantial amount of your money back.

What's more is that the better your driving record the cheaper your insurance should get in the long run. But here is what you need to do to ensure this happens: phone every year, at least, for a new quote for your insurance premium. Insurance companies have a habit of just letting the price stay high even when your car has probably dropped in value, or even when you get over 25. They will usually keep quiet as long as you keep paying. So you have got to phone them fairly regularly and see what new price they can offer you.

Give these principles a try, shop around and be shrewd, and you are going to find cheap car insurance for young people under 25. It really is out there.
